
LUX Audience Award 2025 nominees’ announcement

The five films nominated for the LUX Audience Award were announced on 18 September at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, before Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), filmmakers and industry stakeholders.
This initiative – organised by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy, in collaboration with Creative Europe MEDIA and Europa Cinemas – aims at supporting European cinema and promoting cultural diversity.
The shortlisted films are :
Animal, directed by Sofia Exarchou (Greece/Austria/Romania/Cyprus/Bulgaria) ;
Dahomey by Mati Diop (France/Senegal/Benin) ;
Flow by Gints Zilbalodis (Latvia/France/Belgium) ;
Intercepted by Oksana Karpovych (Canada/France/Ukraine) ;
Julie Keeps Quiet directed by Leonardo van Dijl (Belgium/Sweden).
Both the public and MEPs can participate to the vote, with an equal weighting of 50% each. Cinema-lovers across Europe have until April 2025 to find out where to watch the nominated films and rate them online.
The film with the highest score will be announced during the LUX Audience Ceremony in April 2025.
