REPORT: FERA CEO moderates professional roundtable on writing stage at FIFIB

The 8th edition of FIFIB, the International Independent Film Festival of Bordeaux, France, spanned over 6 days for 15 to 21 October 2019.
FERA CEO Pauline Durand-Vialle was invited to introduce and moderate a panel discussion on creators’ work and living conditions during the writing stage and on how to best support them during this critical phase of their work, part of an afternoon of professional roundtables focusing on The Time of Creation: Writing and Development.
The panel was introduced with a brief presentation by FERA CEO of the key findings of the European Survey on the Remuneration of Audiovisual Authors* highlighting how unpaid work, particularly during the development phase, represents a main trend throughout Europe.
The panel gathered as speakers both authors such as Clémence Madeleine Perdrillat (screenwriter and director), Olivier Babinet (screenwriter and director), Jean Louis Gauthey (Editions Cornélius, publisher, screenwriter), Claire Maugendre (screenwriter, director and writer), as well as professionals working to support them during the writing phase, such as Julie Marnay (Nisi Masa, European Short Pitch coordinator) and Rémi Bigot (Cannes‘ Critics‘ Week, Next Step programme coordinator).
