FERA partners in exclusive EFAD screening of “Simone – le voyage du siècle” by Olivier Dahan
The exclusive screening of “Simone – Le voyage du siècle | A woman of the century » by French director Olivier Dahan was organised by EFAD European Film Agency Directors to celebrate the French Presidency at the Council of the European Union 2022.
The event, which took place on Monday 27 June at Cinema Palace in Brussels, is part of a cycle of screenings designed to celebrate European cinema and promote cultural diversity as a cornerstone of European audiovisual policies, in partnership with European associations in the culture and audiovisual sector: FERA, CEPI, CICAE, Cineuropa, Eurocinema, Europa Cinema, Europa Distribution, Europa International, EFA, EPC, SAA, UNIC, Unifrance.
The film explores Simone Veil’s life story through pivotal events of the Twentieth century, as an intimate and epic portrait of an extraordinary woman who eminently challenged and transformed her era defending a humanist message still keenly relevant today. The famous French figure, who survived the Holocaust and went on to become a leading politician, human rights campaigner, and feminist, presided over the European Parliament from 1979 to 1982.
The screening opening interview with Elsa Zylberstein, who embodies Simone Veil in the biopic directed by Olivier Dahan, is available here.
The EFAD-organised screening was followed by a cocktail reception where attendees gathered to hear the heartfelt speeches of the French presidency representatives as well as Vice President of the European Parliament Evelyn Regner emphasizing how crucial it is today to continue supporting women’s right to abortion and defending human rights.
