REPORT: FERA intervention at newly-founded Spanish directors’ association ACCION “Jornadas sobre la Ley de Cine” event in Madrid
Jornadas sobre la Ley de Cine, or Cinema Legislation Days*, took place on 29-30 May 2019, in Madrid, and was organized by ACCION (Asociación de directores y directoras de cine – Association of Film Directors). The purpose of the event was threefold: (1) to be a platform for the public launch of ACCION as the Spanish organization representing film directors, (2) to offer an overview of the current situation of film directors in Spain as well as in Europe and (3) to analyze the cinema legislation in Spain and create proposals for improving it at the benefit of film director and audiovisual creators at large.
ACCION is the newest Spanish organization representing film directors specifically. FERA CEO Pauline Durand-Vialle participated in the event to offer insights on the current situation of film and TV directors from a EU-standpoint.
The first day comprised of 4 roundtables: (1) The cinema legislation seen from the perspective of law and public administration experts, (2)The cinema legislation seen from the perspective of national producers, (3) The cinema legislation seen from the perspective of public broadcasters, distributors and streaming platformsand (4)The cinema legislation seen from the perspective of film directors who have coproduced some of their works. The second day comprised of 1 working session, Conclusion of the two days and debate.
